This way, bacteria can spread to other parts of your body. Usually, at the end of the root canal, a lesion begins to form – bone resorption occurs – the so-called periodontitis develops. It can be acute or chronic. In acute periodontitis, severe pain is felt – as a result of the inflammatory process, fluid is collected, which causes pressure. Chronic periodontitis can also proceed symptomless. When immunity decreases, symptoms appear – from severe pain to swelling and deterioration of the general condition. Some other symptoms may include: swollen lymph nodes, throbbing pain in the jaw, ear or neck, pain when applying pressure to the tooth, bad breath, developing a tooth abscess, dehydration, rapid heartbeat, and more.
