Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment, when performed accurately, is of utmost importance for the long-term health of the tooth, its function, and the absence of infection.

The tooth consists mainly of two parts – the roots and the crown. The crown is the visible part of the tooth, while the roots are located in the jawbone. The crown is composed of enamel, dentin, and pulp, and the roots are made up of cementum, dentin, and pulp. The pulp is the living part of the tooth – it consists of blood and lymph vessels, nerves, undifferentiated cells, and connective tissue. When a caries reaches the pulp, it becomes infected, and the patient experiences severe pain, as a result. The infected pulp is full of various microorganisms.

What is the process?

Anesthesia

First, anesthesia is administered to ensure that the dental procedure is painless for the patient. A rubber dam is placed to isolate the tooth's root canal system from saliva and bacteria in the oral cavity. Then, the tooth's canals are widened, disinfected and rinsed with special solutions.

High-Quality Systems

At The Top, we use high-quality systems for mechanical and chemical treatment of the canals. Our endodontists work under magnification with a microscope to ensure every detail is executed perfectly. After the canal treatment, the next step is filling – sealing the root canals with materials suited to the specific case. We take an X-ray before and after the treatment to ensure the quality of the procedure.

Old Root Canal Treatments

In some cases, we encounter old root canal treatments that were not performed precisely. In such cases, the infection that forms around the roots of the teeth can lead to pain, swelling, or even an abscess. There may also be broken instruments, ledges, and other complications that only a specialist in endodontics can resolve under microscopic magnification.
