Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment is one of the most important things for the lifetime of a tooth, its function and lack of infection when done right.
A tooth is mainly composed of 2 parts- roots and a crown. The crown is the visible part of the tooth, the roots line in the bone of the jaws. The crown is made of enamel, dentin and pulp, and the roots- of cementum, dentin, and pulp. The pulp is the alive part of the tooth- it consists of blood, nerve and lymph vessels. When the decay has reached the pulp or due to other reasons, it becomes infected and the patient starts feeling pain. There are lots of bacteria in the infected pulp. In such cases a root canal treatment is required.
There is a special part of dentistry, which studies the root canal system and it is called endodontics.

Materials
In our clinic, we have highly trained endodontists, who can manage highly complicated endodontic cases. Firstly, an anesthetic is used to make the treatment painless for the patient. Then, we use rubber dam to isolate the tooth from the saliva and the bacteria in the mouth.
We clean the root canals with root canal instruments and irrigation, which have proven their effectiveness. With the help of machine files, the roots are well- shaped and their walls are cleaned. Due to the irrigation, the root canal is disinfected. Then the canal is sealed to prevent further infection. We also use microscopic magnification to notice even the smallest details which can compromise the treatment. We make an X-ray before and after to reassure the exact treatment our patients receive.
Sometimes, there are old treatments and root canals fillings, which are not performed well. Thus, an infection starts to form around the root canals and it can result in pain, swelling, even abscess, etc. There may also be broken instruments, ledges and other complications. Happily, these problems are completely solvable under magnification and by our specialists.
